Winter Newsletter
Firstly on behalf of your whole committee, let me wish you a happy & healthy 2012.
Coming Up
A Saturday “Drop In” near you
How about coming to one of the three “Drop Ins” that are bring held?
The proposed venues are on the following Saturdays;
In Blairgowrie at Cargill’s Bistro in Lower Mill Street
Feb 25th between 11.00 & 13.00
In Mintlaw at the Happy Plant Garden Centre
Mar 3rd between 13.30 & 15.00
In Fochabers at Christies Garden Centre
Mar10th between 11.00 to 13.00
I will be at each one as long as the weather permits & with salt on the roads I don’t expect anyone to appear in a Classic Car – I’ll be using my everyday Peugeot.
It may only be for a chat . . . although I suspect a coffee or a bite to eat might tempt me.
so if the day is fine – just come along!
AGM – April 22nd – 2.00pm – “Drive It” day
What better way to begin the 2012 rally season than by coming to our annual general meeting on “Drive It” day in your Morris Minor!
The venue is as usual – the Ythan Hotel in Newburgh and the meeting which starts at 2pm and should last around an hour.
Many of us will have a bite of lunch and I will be there from 11.30
To book for lunch please call the hotel directly on 01358 789402
If you could bring a small raffle prize on the day this would be appreciated.
Reports
Glasgow Transport Museum Visit – November 5th
On a crisp morning and courtesy of Victoria Coaches in Peterhead, 45 members, family and friends enjoyed the trip down to Glasgow. The prompt 7.30 start off was at Peterhead and we arrived safely at the museum just before midday.
The Museum was free to enter and most people took advantage of the excellent restaurant to have lunch before looking round. There was a good range of exhibits although a number of the cars, whilst displayed on a wall, were actually inaccessible for a closer inspection.
For the more adventurous the nearby Kelvingrove Museum also offered an afternoon alternative as did the city centre itself.
For a bit of fun on the journey Sandra Wood had a “lottery bonus ball” sweep with everyone buying at least one ticket. The £25.00 sweep winner was a very delighted Jenny Duthie. The balance of the funds raised then going into the account to offset the cost of the 2 seats on the coach that had not been filled.
The return journey was made in good time with a few fireworks & bonfires to be seen.
- the final destination of Peterhead being reached at just after 9.30pm.
Finally thanks need to go to our coach driver and to all those on the coach who either brought tins of sweets or biscuits . . . . . or both!
2011 Pre-Christmas Lunch – Sunday 11th December
What a contrast from the 2010 lunch with all those who wanted to be there, having no travelling problems.
This lunch whilst still at the Station Hotel was in a downstairs function room which I know was better for a number of the 28 present.
The lunch was enjoyed by everyone with the Secret Santa and our own rendition of the 12 days of Christmas providing some fun.
Adam Craigmile was regretably unable to attend due to his knees, but very kindly sent his regards and £20.00. It was suggested that we have a game of Head & Tails with the winner taking the £20. After 3 minutes of “frantic mind changing” and much hilarity, John Fitchet took the prize which he very generously donated to the club.
